Here We Go

We are going camping today. That sounds great, it will be great--once we are there! I haven't packed a stitch and either have any of the kids. Yesterday was supposed to be packing day, instead it was be a good supportive parent and go to back to school night. I actually thought when I got my education degree that I would be a parent that was at the school all the time. It has turned out that I force myself to do just enough so that my children know I care! It sounds terrible, I didn't even want to fill out the help papers for the PTSO! My good friends are in charge of that! Why is this?
I think that it is probably because I haven't mastered being in 7 places at once and I still have dirty dishes and laundry! What I really want to do is paint all the chairs and shelves I have and scrapbook! Yes, I really want to scrapbook! I take really great pictures of my kids and never seem to get to where I am actually printing them and then putting them into books. I am not even talking about the scrapbooking that is fabulous--just the basic slide them in books!
Someday--I am going to get these things done! If I can ever get anyone in the family besides me to put their shoes in the garage---on the shoe shelf--where it has been for 5 years!

Eewwh!

What does barf look like going 60 miles an hour out a car window? I decided to spare you the disgusting details! Miss E fell at school and hit her head, then she felt sick. I went and got her and brought her home. Well, I didn't have a bowl or bag so I told her to stick her head out the window. Luckily it was the back window! It was sick, sick, sick!!
I hope that she is alright. I really makes me nervous whenever they hit their heads. I have checked on her a few times, checked her pupils etc and they are responding so that is good. Hopefully, she will be just fine! Thank goodness the mess could be easily sprayed off of the entire side of the car!!!! Eeewh!!

Counting My Blessings!

I was feeling rather sorry for myself again tonight when I read someone else's blessing list. She wrote it because she felt really cranky! I think that I will write a short list of my own!
1. I am grateful that I have a washer/dryer in my home.
2.I am grateful that D has a great job that he loves(usually).
3.I have healthy children
4. My Mom is still alive and very healthy.
5.I have great in-laws.
6.I live on a dead end street with no sidewalks.
7. I have really good friends.

8.I have a college education-it helps with kids--I do know things!
9. I am grateful I can read
10. I am grateful that I can take pictures, occasionally some really good ones!
11.I am grateful I started to work out, it helps.
12.I am grateful that I am not a germophobe!
13.I have wonderful memories of my Dad.
14. I have a wonderful extended family. At least 70 first cousins!

15. I am healthy.
16. I am grateful I live in a tiny town.
17. I am grateful I grew up in a tiny town!
18. My baby still smells like heaven!
19. Grateful that we were sent another surprise baby, even if it does put off retirement!
20. I am grateful that my husband is worthy enough to be called to his new position and that he will do it so well.
21. I am grateful that Heavenly Father let us have beautiful flowers to remind us of heaven.

Ok, I feel a bit better. I hope that you didn't get too bored with my list. I hope that it helps me keep a better attitude and perspective. I needed it after doing 6 loads of laundry-again, picking up 5 pairs of shoes that I asked to be put away, 3 jackets, etc. etc. etc! I have been at this motherhood thing for 13 years and I don't know if I am any better at it in all that time! I still have the same piles!!! Oh, well, I am a blessed person!! Posted by Picasa

One Persons Junk!

Today my friend had a yard sale! Everything in her yard was there for the taking! Unfortunatley for my family, I went! I am a sucker for old chairs. I love those tables in Country Home magazine that have mismatched chairs around a really cool old farm table. I haven't found the cool table yet but I found a few chairs today. I will paint them all black and recover the seats to match. Now I just need to get the "finish projects fairy" to make a visit and I am good to go!
It is amazing how finding some treasure can make ones day! The only thing my friend said is that she doesn't want to see any of the stuff in a (true) yard sale in 2 years. She is guaranteed of that, I don't do yard sales!!!

Tired and Grumpy!

I woke up today feeling icky and grumpy. Last night I was very grumpy with M. He didn't listen to me when I asked him to get ready for football, which meant get all of your stuff, including all the pads and helmet that are in the back of the car! Well, he of course, didn't listen to me. I went to town to be at a University dinner with Dave. As I am pulling into the parking lot, I get a call---pads and helmet are in the back! I was so grumpy. Much more than I like to admit. I had to drive home-20 min., take him to practice-12min. and then drive BACK to town---20 minutes away!
I was feeling overworked, underappreciated and basically unimportant. Today, I still basically feel the same yet I am not as close to tears. I am going to the gym, hopefully that will help move the grumpies away!

One day down!

Miss E and I had a talk last night about the kind of morning that we needed around here. She was given a reward to work towards--going to the store for a treat and we are on our way! I had to remind her a couple of times, but very, very minor! I am certainly hoping that we can figure out how to get her going without fits every day! I know that I do have to get her up by 7:00 am, not let her sleep in because I am being nice. It does no one any favors. It makes things so much worse.
I have been to the gym this morning and just had to force myself to keep going. I have gotten out of the habit a bit and I think that it is going to take my body and mainly my brain some time to get used to it again. I know that I feel so much better when I do workout so I just have to do it!
I am feeling really tired so I better get myself some real lunch and then focus my energy. Miss A's room is so messy, she just can't seem to keep it clean at all! YOu would think by her age she could do a bit better. We got rid of her dressr(to her brother) because she just wasn't using it, now I think that she is realizing that the closet organizer is just not enough. Also, I haven't gone into her room and just really cleaned it for a long time--I guess that is the next stage. Also, I must get a dresser for her!

Slow Down Just a little

Hey buddy, slow down just a little for your Momma! This little guy has recently decided that he is big! He has plans of his own! In this photo he is headed down the street with the dog going to Poppa's house-or anywhere else that he thinks he should!
I am not ready for this little guy to get so big. He is our last of the baby blessings and he has been a joy. I am not ready for him to pull away from me, although he is already doing it! I have to lock doors so that he doesn't get out without me. We have had to go chasing him more than once. His Poppa keeps his eyes open for him because if I "lose" him, usually, that is where he is headed!
Slow down little one, your Momma's not ready for you to be big! Posted by Picasa

A new beginning

A new week=a new beginning! I am hoping that this is the beginning of a very good week. Miss E and I had a nice talk about the things she needs to do to make our mornings go more smoothly. She has a reward in mind and we talked about the little details of her getting ready. I really hope that it works!
D went to all of his new meetings today and he is exhausted. It is all new, it is very tiring to try and learn a whole new set of rules/programs. Our church was nice today. The kids were quite good during S meeting so that helped me feel a little less stress.
So, a new week, I am going to try and get to the gym everyday. July was so busy with fun that I didn't get to workout and I can so tell. I went to spin class on Friday and it was hard, it was also gross, they are painting the pool and the smell was terrible. I actually left early because I was getting woosie!!
Here's to a new week-a new beginning! Wish me luck!

Not a morning person

I am not a true morning person, I wish that I was, however. D had to get up early for church and I just woke up. Usually, I can just go back to sleep. What does it take to really become a productive morning person? I am trying because I think that more can be accomplised in the morning than in the afternoon.
I think that I may go and enjoy that large tub that never gets used because I am too tired or rushed!

I'm not a morning person

I'm a lucky girl!

I am a lucky girl, I get to make my life with this handsome guy! He is off early this morning to his first High Council meeting in the University Stake and then off to his assigned ward. We will miss him. I know that he will actually thrive in this new calling. He is such a people person. People have always enjoyed talking with him, he makes everyone feel comfortable.
I am glad that he's with me!

Love you sweetie! Posted by Picasa

A small miracle!

This table has been covered with junk for almost a month and even before that it was momentarily clean. A clean table is almost impossible for me to maintain, it is the dumping ground for anything and everything that noone wants to put away or throw away!
My Mom wrote a paper in college about the life of a table. Mine could say volumes about our family, mainly that we are quite messy!!
The bench in the background is also free of laundry! My utility room is really small so I usually bring it to the bench to fold. Well, that sounds good, except that it may become 5 loads that need folded and then put away!!! One little miracle at a time!!! A clean table and bench! Write the date down, it might not happen again for awhile!! Posted by Picasa

This girl!

This girl is going to be the death of me! She is so very independent and free spirited! Today was the day that repeated every school day of last year. She didn't want to get up, wanted to wear the same clothes as yesterday, didn't want to wear the new capri's that she loved. I don't know what it is going to take to get this child to be more pleasant in the morning but I am on a quest. Her stubborness in the mornings sets all of us up for a crabby morning. I hate sending her out the door having hollered at her for an hour. There has to be a better way. I am thinking about setting up a morning routine chart for her, also I think a night time one that includes choosing the clothes for the next day. Perhaps it could be laminated or in a scrapbook sleeve so that she could use a dry erase marker to mark it off as she does the things. I think that for awhile she may also need a reward chart for when she does everything without screaming(I hate her scream to the point of hives). Maybe after so many days I take her to a movie or something. I think that it needs to be big enough that it is a real motivation. However, I don't want it to be too big so that it takes too many days to achieve it. Perhaps we start small, 2 days and we go for ice cream or something.
This little girl is so outgoing and friendly, she can make friends with anyone. She also has two older siblings that have crossed over to big kids, and then she has a little brother. So, she is a little stuck. M is really awful at teasing her, and with her screech, he does it often. I have always wondered why children like to hear others scream. I would be happy to never hear screaming again!!!
I hope that something helps because the thought of 177 more days of screaming makes me want to throw up! Posted by Picasa

What a Summer it has been!

School has begun. Summer is over. It is one of those things that has to come yet it is full of mixed emotions. We had a great summer. One of the best in the last few years.
It was a busy summer. Girls camp, baseball, painting A's bedroom, M going to Grandma's, E at Grandma's, boys camp and then all of us going to Grandma's!!! We played and played and played and we are all exhausted!
E was really tired tonight and said that she didn't want to go to school tomorrow, she is so my child, mornings are torture! We only got 2 days of no complaining. I hope that she doesn't start acting like last year!!

I had my day made today when I went to get my new glasses. The man at the store has known me forever, well, I walked in and he was helping someone else. When he asked me if he could help me I told him I needed my new glasses. He asked the name! When I said my name he took a double take and said that he didn't recognize me. He said that I looked so young, I really had a young look going on!!!! I could have just hugged him, he totally made my day!!! I have to wear glasses for a few weeks, I am getting ready to have Lasik. I am terrified!!!

Here are to the wonderful childhood lazy days of summer, watermellon, playing in the water, jumping on the trampoline and just having fun.

Could he get any cuter?

Could this little guy get any cuter? He is starting to pull the funniest little faces. He is getting attitude to match a teenager! My brother said that he has been too sweet and mild and so I will get paybacks later! I hope that he doesn't get too crabby! He was lost yesterday without the other kids, he is just so used to following them around and having them to do what he wants. Hopefully, he and I get to hug and cuddle for awhile. Posted by Picasa

Why have a blog?

I successfully completed my first post with pictures. My Mom asked me why people do blogs and I didn't really know how to answer her. Why am I? Just because I can I guess! Stupid reason, however. Perhaps it is just a way to get me to record some of the ins and outs of my life. It would seem that I could write it down on paper but somehow this new age of the computer we have to complicate everything!

D is busy busy these days! He has been called to a new calling in our church and I am not sure how I feel about it. I know that he will be fabulous with the young married students but what about me and the kids? I don't really like to go to church alone! Oh, well, there must be a reason.

Well, 2 posts in one night is probably more than enough!!!

First Day of School--New blog

Well, today is the day that I start my own blog! I have wanted a spot to put pictures for family and such perhaps this is it!!

Today was the first day the kids went back to school. E is in first grade and she was sooo very excited. The others were as well but they are big now so they have to act cool. They were not very thrilled with the first day of school picture thing.

I will keep this short so we can decide if it works!!
