Ashley's Near Death Experience

Ashley about died. No really--she is a lucky lucky girl. She and Mitch decided to go try out the new long board that Mitch made in shop. The road by our house is too rocky so they went over by our new school. The roads are new and smooth. They are also mostly hills. Bigger than they look.

Ashley crashed going probably 30-35 miles per hour. Mitch was behind her in the car. Of course there was no helmet. Mitch said that she just laid there. I am certain that she was knocked unconscious. Mitch got her in the car and drove her home. I did not know what to do. She was a screaming mess. At first I didn't really realize how badly she had crashed. I didn't know that she laid there. I didn't understand that her hysteria was a concussion.

This was a very scary night. Hind sight is very clear and we should have taken her in earlier. When I did take her in the Dr. told her that she was a very lucky girl. There are many fatalities on long boards. Fatal head injuries. She was lucky she didn't break her skull.

She had a cat scan and was clear from bleeds or fractures so that was good. However, with a serious concussion it could take weeks to really heal.

These pictures are five days after the accident. She wouldn't let me near her with a camera before that! She also suffered from bad road rash. Both elbows, both knees, hands and her hip. Her hip is the most painful.

I hope that someday Ashley has the ability to look at this accident and realize that she was spared. Spared death and spared from permanent brain injury. She experienced a miracle. We believe in the Power of the Priesthood. I know that the blessing her Dad gave her helped. She had faith. She must have a reason that she was spared. I just hope that she will be a bit more cautious and realize that she can get hurt. A helmet would be a great idea!

Little Sahara Sanddunes-April

We went to the Sanddunes (Little Sahara in Utah)at the beginning of April.

We went with some friends who all have kids who love to ride dirt bikes. Mitch and Justin had a ball! Me--I about froze to death! I am not a cold weather lover! I kept trying to go out and visit around the fire and I just couldn't do it! When there is a heater inside I just struggle wanting to go outside!!!

Our friend Kathy brought a little 50 dirt bike. Justin was in heaven. He rode and rode. He crashed a few times as well! We threatened the older boys with death if they showed the little guys how to shift! We figured that they needed to learn how to ride and balance before they were allowed speed!

Mitch is a total dare devil. It scares me to death to watch him! He is on his dirt bike going up "sand mountain" like it is a walk in the park! He loves to ride! Makes me wonder where he came from! My brothers are big dirtbikers but they scare me to death!! He did have one really gnarly crash-so I was told. I am glad I didn't have to watch it-no need to fuel my fear!!!

On Saturday night it started to rain. When we got up it had snowed. We were in trouble! It was a sticky mucky mess. There was no way that we would be able to get our motorhome out until it dried out. We were with another motorhome and a big trailer. We sent all the teenagers home in the available car and stayed an extra night. Monday morning we were finally able to get out without getting the beast stuck!

(i didn't take many pictures-I will try to get some from Kathy)

Prom 2010-March 12

Prom-2010

We had to finish the dance competition in Idaho and HURRY home so that we could get Ashley to the prom. At our school the Junior Prom(yes Ashley is a senior-date was a junior) is a HUGE deal! They have what they call a Promenade where all the couples are presented on stage and their names are read along with their parents names. The whole town turns out to Promenade!

We barely made it in time!

Ashley went with Zac Welsh this year. They were a cute couple. Funny thing-the Welsh's lived in our ward when we lived in Ogden. Ashley and Zac knew each other as little kids! They don't remember this but it is funny how we all moved around and now they date!!

As always Ashley looked beautiful.

Always a daddy's girl!

March Dance Competition-Pocatello

A bit of a catch up!

We went to Idaho State Dance Championships in March so Emily could compete in her clogging/powertap.

She is on two teams this year. She is getting quite good. It is always so nuts at a competition to get there with all the hair pieces, clothing articles, makeup, shoes etc. Then while at the competition to be on the right stage at the right times!

Em's teams did super earning first on all dances and also receiving an Overall which is the highest award given!

Where are you Spring?

wow-another month without posting. It has still been winter. Winter steals my soul. It steals my energy and it steals my interest and desire.

I went outside the other day looking for spring. I just know that it has to be coming. The snow is melting. The robins are returning. I have seen Canandian Geese resting on their way back home. I know that real spring has to just be hiding around the corner.

I found my little crocus flowers! They are the sweetest little flowers that had to have been created just for people like me. People that need Spring.

Hopefully, now that I have found my little spring crocus I will be able to emerge from this winter swampland.
